Wang Renxiang
Wang Renxiang was born in Tianmen County, Hubei Province in 1950. He graduated from the Archaeology Program of the Department of History in Sichuan University in 1977, and was employed by the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (IA CASS) in the same year. He received his M.A. from the Graduate School, Chinese Academy of Social Science in 1981. He served as Deputy Director of the Department of Prehistoric Archaeology. Currently, he is the Director of the Department of Frontier Archaeology and a Research Fellow of the Institute of Archaeology, CASS. He is also an adjunct professor of the Department of Archaeology in Nanjing University.
Previous Archaeological Field Projects and Research
Renxiang WANG has participated in or directed archaeological field projects in Shaanxi, Sichuan, Hubei, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, Yunnan, and Xinjiang Provinces. The major archaeological sites he has excavated include, but not limited to, the Baishicun site (Lintong County, Shaanxi Province), the Bianduishan site (Miangyang County, Sichuan Province), the Zhongzipu site (Guangyuan County, Sichuan Province), the Xishanpin site (Tianshui, Gansu Province), the Qugong site (Lasa, Tibet Autonomous Region), and the Lajia site (Minhe County, Qinghai Province). Renxiang WANG has published more than 20 books and 100 research papers and archaeological reports.
