Wu Yaoli

Born in 1947 in the Zitong County, Sichuan Province, professor Wu graduated from the Archaeology Program, Department of History, Beijing University in 1975. After working in the Beijing Cultural Relics Administration for three years, he entered the Graduate School of the CASS to study Neolithic archaeology of China, and yielded his MA there. He entered the IACASS in 1981 and has been focusing on the research and fieldwork on Neolithic archaeology till present. In the 1980s, he had taken part in the excavations at the Baijia site in Lingtong, and the Xiehu site in Lantian, as well as some surveys in Shaanxi. In the 1990s he had directed excavations at the Lilou site in Ruzhou, Henan, the Oujialaowu and Weijialiangzi sites in Wushan, Sichuan, and the Dawan and Dongwanzai sites in Hong Kong. He was promoted as a professor in 1996 and is head of the Department of Prehistoric Archaeology at present.
