Research Fellow at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Academic Background :
An Jiayao obtained her MA in History from the Archaeology Department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Graduate School in 1982, under the supervision of Professor Su Bai, Head of the Department of Archaeology at Peking University. After graduating in 1982, she went on to work at the Institute of Archaeology, CASS, where she has long since been involved with the study of Tang Dynasty Chang’an City ruins and has presided over numerous key archaeological excavations. An Jiayao’s research into ancient glass vessels has helped fill in the gaps in the Chinese archaeological community’s knowledge of ancient glassware and her work has been widely cited by Chinese and foreign scholars alike.
Research Interests :
- Sui and Tang Dynasty Buddhist temples of Chang’an.
- The Taiye Lake ruins at the Tang Dynasty Da Ming Palace.
- The preservation and exhibition of archaeological sites.
Recent Academic Activities:
November, 2006: Attended the General Assembly of the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies in Alexandria, Egypt.
July, 2007: Participated in the XXIst International Congress on Glass in Strasbourg, France.
