The excavation area, covering more than 2,000 square meters, has revealed an inner city wall about 340 meters long. Located at the intersection of China's three largest rivers in present-day Xuyi County, Sizhou was a flourishing city and transportation hub with a history of more than 900 years. But more than 300 years ago, during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it was buried by a massive flood.
