Archaeological work and Artifact preservation research – looking back 30 years of Chinese Archaeology

    From Nov 22 to Nov 24th, held in Changshu Xiangsu province, the conference “looking back 30 years – Archaeological work and Artifact preservation researchsince the reform & open policy of 1979 ,” was hosted by the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(IA CASS). More than ten experts and scholars from the IA CASS, Beijing University, Chinese National Museum, Shaanxi Provincial Institute of archaeology, Shangxi Provincial Institute of archaeology, Suzhuo museum, Sanmenxia Guo State Museum, etc. participated in this conference.
  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The conference was presided by Professor Du Jinpeng,  director of the culture & heritage preservation center, IA CASS.  The head and research fellow of the IA CASS, Wang Wei, delivered the opening speech. He introduced ideas, knowledge and measures adopted towards the promotion of the institute’s efforts towards cultural and heritage preservation and publicity & education. He also worked towards explaining the objectives of the conference.

     During the conference, Xu Lianggao, Ji Kunzhang, Wang Xuerong, Hu Dongpo, Dai Xiangming, Zhao Xichen, Gu Fei, Zhang Zhaogen, Wang Zhiguo, Li Huhou, etc., as  archaeology and cultural relic preservation experts they one by one made speeches. They carried out a very intense discussion about the important achievements and major difficulties in archaeology & cultural relics preservation issues since 1979. 
        The experts who attended the conference visited the Suzhou museum. They also investigated  about the preservation of cultural heritage and the usage condition in the case of the Humble Administrator’s garden, the architecture of Xishandiaohualou, etc.
        Participants also included professionals in other fields throughout the Yangtze Delta region.
