Tomb discoveries uncover porcelain pieces in Hebei

From: NetWriter:Date:2010-01-29

Two archeological sites found in north China's Hebei province have shed light on the burial customs of China's Northern and Tang dynasties.

A human-faced beast was among some 150 porcelain pieces unearthed from a tomb group in Zanhuang county, near the city of Shijiazhuang. The tomb group belonged to a noble family in the Northern dynasty, around 500 AD.

36 tombs recently found in the city of Xingtai, date back to a period from the Jin to Qing dynasties. In one tomb from the Tang dynasty, archaeologists found a porcelain sculpture shaped as a warrior with a sword.

The find shows the importance of porcelain making during those periods.
