Cambridge University Press to publish Antiquity from 2015

From:Cambridge University Press NetWriter:Date:2015-05-09
Cambridge University Press is delighted to announce that it is partnering with Antiquity Publications Ltd to publish Antiquity from 2015.

Antiquity is a peer-reviewed journal of world archaeology which has been at the forefront of archaeological discussions and debates since it was founded by O.G.S. Crawford in 1927. It covers all periods and subjects from the earliest humans to the present day. The journal is edited by Chris Scarre, Professor of Archaeology at Durham University, and will be expanding from 4 to 6 issues per volume in 2015.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Cambridge University Press has seen its list of archaeology journals grow. This most recent addition confirms the Press’s position as a leading publisher of world-class archaeological scholarship.

The current Antiquity website (http://antiquity.ac.uk) will remain the primary online home for Antiquity’s community of readers, offering a range of additional Open Access material. Cambridge’s electronic publishing platform, Cambridge Journals Online, will host the journal’s content whilst maintaining close links with the current website. This structure will enrich the digital version of the journal by supporting reader experience as well as providing additional article functionality.

This new partnership will also recognise the journal’s commitment to publishing the broadest range of world archaeology for a truly global audience. As well as benefiting from CJO’s inbuilt tools to enhance discoverability, Antiquity will be included in Cambridge’s consortia sales programme, covering over 2,500 institutions, thus increasing the journal’s dissemination.

Chris Scarre commented, ‘Working with Cambridge University Press will provide new opportunities for Antiquity to extend its international coverage and reach out even more effectively to our authors and readers worldwide.’

Beatrice Rehl, Director of Publishing, Humanities at Cambridge University Press said, ‘We are delighted to be publishing Antiquity from 2015 and look forward to collaborating with Professor Scarre and his team to further develop the journal's prestigious profile. We understand the breadth and diversity of Antiquity’s readers and contributors, and our strategy will focus on expanding the journal’s reach and impact across the archaeological community.’
