    ‘Studies of Eastern Archaeology’ was compiled by the Oriental Archaeology Research Centre of Shandong University and was published by Science Press in May 2008. This hardback edition is 521 pages long and includes 8 colour plates.
    ‘Studies of Eastern Archaeology’ is a series of books on the research of archaeology and ancient East Asian civilizations. The focus of the series is on Chinese and East Asian archaeology. It draws on the latest results of research conducted by Chinese and foreign scholars and reflects the latest insights, theories and methods employed in archaeological research. The publication of this series has had a significant impact on the promotion and development of Chinese archaeology and the research of East Asian cultures.
    Volume Four of this series contains of twenty research papers and one excavation report. The research papers cover topics related to Shang Dynasty cultural characteristics, the forms of agriculture and handicraft manufacture, environmental conditions, and foreign trade, while the excavation report is a report on the test excavation of the Daxinzhuang site in Jinan, Shandong Province, in the autumn of 1984.
    This publication is a good reference textbook for historians, archaeologists, palaeographers, enthusiasts and students.
