Paleolithic Artifacts Discovered in Xigou,Helong City,JiLin Province

Abstract: The Xigou site is situated on a fourth terrace 800 m above Xigou village,at the southwest of Xigou Village,Longcheng Town,Helong County．The site was discovered in June 2006．102 artifacts were collected from the site．The stone assemblage includes cores,flakes,blades,chunks,chips,debris,used flakes and tools．Obsidian is the predominant raw material,constituting 69.61℅of the assemblage,followed by quartz,quartzite,tuff and shale．
According to the characteristics of these artifacts,we suggest that the site is transitional type from Small Tool Industry to Microlith Industry,probably in the Late period of the Pleistocene or of the Late Paleolithic．

Excavation of the Sishilian Site in Suibin,Heilongjiang

Abstract:In 1978,excavation of the Sishilian Site in No．290 Farm was done by Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Archaeology．About 200 m2 was unearthed,3 house foundations,some potteries made by hand and a small amount of stones was found here．The site should be of the I Culture of Tongre．

A Research on Ancient Human Skulls from the Shangjifangyingzi Site in Chifeng county, Inner Mongolian

Abstract:One ancient human skull (male) unearthed from the Xiajiadian Upper period at the Shangjifangyingzi site in Chifeng county, Inner Mongolian Province was studied. The morphological features of Shangjifangyingzi crania show that the racial type is closely related to the modern East Asiatic Mongoloids, but some physical characteristics of these skulls are closer to those in the ancient Longtoushan population and the modern Huabei population.

The Geographical Position of the Soli Nation according to the Excavation on Soilgou

Abstract:A Preliminary excavation for the purpose of constructing the Dadingzi Mountain power project,was done in Soligou,Binxian by Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Archaeology．3 house foundations and some important cultural relics were found here．It should be a new archaeology culture and similar to Qinghua Site dated to the Warring Stage to West Han Stage．And the two sites Soligou and Qinghua should be the ancient nation of Soli .The place name“Soligou”is according to the nation“soli”,and“Soligou”should be called after the name of the ancient Soli Nation．
Two stage of the site may be divided：the early stage,representing a new culture,dated to the Warring State to the West Han Dynasty unearthed some pottery dou,pot,the red colored pottery；the age of the 1ater stage was similar to the Tongren Culture．The early relics should be of the Suoli(索离人)nation’s．
