Redefinition of the Xiaoheyan Culture Zhao Binfu Ren Ruibo Du Zhanwei
The connotation and naming of Xiaoheyan Culture have been discussed for a couple of years while even till present time they are quite controversial in archaeology circle. Being through inspecting and discussing on the materials of Xiaoheyan Culture sites and graveyards located to the north of Yan Mountain, this thesis redefines the basic connotation and location of Xiaoheyan Culture. After analysis and comparing with the remains of the first phase of Xueshan, Zhongjiabi remains, Wufang remains which are all located to the south of Yan Mountain, the thesis figures out the general features of these remains are distinguished from Xiaoheyan Culture obviously. According to the analysis, these remains should not belong to the Xiaoheyan Culture, while a few remains located to the south of Yan Mountain with some Xiaoheyan Culture elements are resulted from the archaeological cultural exchanges and influences in the same age of history.
