Abstracts: The research of Yu Qi Chang (imperial Porcelain Factory) has long been based on the written sources and less attention has been paid to the archaeological finds until 1980s. However, the knowledge of time when Yu Qi Chang was built is not exact because of the misunderstanding of the kiln located at Jingdezhen as Yu Qi Chang mentioned in literature. This article deals with .he difference between (he kiln prod,,,,,, porcelam at Jingdezhen and Yu Yao Chang in charge of manufacture located at Poyang, Raozhou Prefecture according to Zhengde Raozhou Fu Zhi (Cazelteer of Raozhou Prefecture printed in Zhengde reign) and Wanli Ming Huidian (Collected Statutes of the Ming Dynasty printed in Wauli reign). Through the excavations at Yu Yao (Imperial Kiln site in Jingdezhen. we can draw the conclusion that the starting date of production of Ming Imperial kiln at Jing De zhen was no later than the fourth year of Hongwu ( 1371). while the Yu Qi Chang was established in the first year of Hong Xi (l425) after Emperor Xuande ascended the throne. In the sixth year of Zhengde(1511).
Yu Yao Chang moved from Raozhou to Jingdezhen and combined with the kiln located there as one. Key words: Yu Qi Chang( Imperial Porcelain Factory). Established Date. Archaeolngical Division
