He Yuling

He Yuling was born in November 1972 in Gushi County, Henan Province. He is a deputy of the 14th National People's Congress, a doctoral advisor, and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He graduated with a master's degree from Zhengzhou University in 1999 and has been working at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since then. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Xia-Shang-Zhou Archaeology Division, the Director and Team Leader of the Anyang Workstation, and the Vice President of the China Society of Yin-Shang Civilization. He is also the principal investigator of the major program funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and the project leader for the project funded by the National Key Research and Development Program of China.
His main research focuses on the Xia, Shang, and Zhou periods, with a long-standing commitment to the excavation of the Yinxu site. His research mainly concerns the Huanbei Shang City and the Yinxu, including the layout of the capitals, handicraft archaeology, burial systems, social rituals, and social structures. He has published a total of over 80 academic articles, excavation reports, catalogues, essays, and books.
He is also passionate about publicizing and promoting the Yinxu culture. He has participated in popular TV programs such as Lecture Room, Archaeology Open Course, Discovery, National Treasures, and Chinese Archaeology Assembly on CCTV.
Awards
Report on the Excavations at Huayuanzhuang Locus East in Anyang won the Second Prize in the 8th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements Award.
Anyang Xiaomintun Ⅳ-Late Shang Burials won the Second Prize in the 11th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements Award.
