Biographical Profile
He Nu, male, was born in Beijing in September 1963. From September 1981 to July 1985, he completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of Archaeology at Peking University, earning a bachelor’s degree. From September 1985 to July 1988, he pursued studies in Shang and Zhou archaeology under the guidance of Professors Zou Heng and Li Boqian in the Department of Archaeology at Peking University, obtaining a master’s degree. From September 1999 to July 2001, he studied Shang and Zhou archaeology under Professor Li Boqian at the School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University and earned his doctoral degree one year ahead of schedule.
In July 2001, he began working at the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, where he served as Deputy Director of the Xia-Shang-Zhou Archaeology Division, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Xia-Shang-Zhou Archaeology Division, and research fellow.
Major Work
From July 1988 to August 1999, he worked in the Archaeology Department of the Jingzhou Museum in Hubei Province, serving as the Director of the Archaeology Department. From September 1995 to July 1996, he was a visiting professor in the Department of Anthropology at San Francisco State University in the United States, supported by the U.S. Committee on Scholarly Communication with China. In 1997, he was honored with the titles of "Hubei Province Middle-aged and Young Expert with Outstanding Contributions" and "Advanced Individual in Professional Ethics in Jingzhou City."
He served as the team leader of the Shanxi Archaeological Team of the Institute of Archaeology and the excavation leader of the Taosi City Site. This project was the foremost component of the "Settlement Pattern Archaeology Research" under the National Social Science Key Research Project "Preliminary Research for the Chinese Civilization Exploration Project."
