Biographical Profile
Liu Jianguo, Male, born in January 1966 in Lujiang County, Anhui Province, he is a member of the Communist Party of China. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing from Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping in July 1989, and then joined the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 2007, he earned his Doctor of Engineering degree in Geo-information Engineering from China University of Geosciences (Beijing).
Currently, he serves as a research fellow at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. 
Major Work
His research focuses on the application of archaeological surveying and mapping, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), multi-view 3D reconstruction of archaeological sites, and prehistoric water-control civilization in China. In recent years, he has utilized various spatial information technologies to study the characteristics of ancient human-environment relationships, explored the close correlation between water system distribution, catchment basin scale and ancient settlement distribution, revealed prehistoric human society's capacity for rational utilization and comprehensive management of water resources, and discussed the development and evolution mode of prehistoric water-control civilization in China. He has published 4 academic monographs and more than 80 research papers.
Projects Directed:
Application and Demonstration of Key Technologies for Integrated Space-Ground Field Archaeological Survey, a sub-project of the National Key Research and Development Program "Key Technologies for Integrated Space-Ground Field Archaeological Survey" (October 2020 – September 2023).
3D Reconstruction and Virtual Exhibition of the South Grottoes Temple in Gansu, a project funded by the National Social Science Fund (October 2018 – December 2020).
Research on Scientific and Technological Archaeology, a project supported by the "Summit Strategy" Discipline Development Program of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (January 2018 – December 2022).
